Red 5 reported a significant resource with open pit potential of 1.88Moz at 2g/t at King of the Hills, one of its Australian Mines, and the company is evaluating options for on site processing. King of the Hills is currently in production at 400,000 to 600,000 tonnes/year, as a high grade underground, trucking ore to Red 5’s other Australian mine and processing centre at Darlot. FY19 production guidance is 100,000oz to 115,000oz.
The Red 5 group also holds an interest in the Siana Gold Project located on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. The Siana Project is held under a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) by Greenstone Resources Corporation (a Red 5 Philippine affiliate company).
Mining operations at the Siana Gold Project were suspended in April 2017 following delays in the regulatory approvals for the construction of a new tailings storage facility. With a Clearance and Notice to Proceed being received in August 2018 from the Philippines Mines and Geosciences Bureau for the construction and operation of a new tailings storage facility, Greenstone Resources Corporation is currently evaluating the restart requirements, and funding. The deposit was mined by open pit methods, transitioning to underground mining following completion of the open pit.
