Shayne McGuire runs the internal Emerging Markets portfolio and Gold Fund for Teacher Retirement System of Texas, one of the nation’s largest pension funds with $150 billion in assets under management.
Shayne has spent 19 years at TRS starting as a senior international analyst and later as a portfolio manager for Southern Europe. Prior to TRS, Shayne was a Senior Analyst for ING Barings and Deutsche Bank in Mexico City, where he was twice recognized as being among the top Latin American analysts by Institutional Investor.
He received an undergraduate degree in History and Political Economy at Fordham University, and an M.A. in History and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Shayne is author of three books on precious metals investing, including Hard Money: Taking Gold Investment to a Higher Level and The Silver Bull Market.
