This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on Denver Gold Group's websites and apps, why we use them, and how you can control them. It forms part of our website terms of use and should be read with our privacy policy.
1Where this policy applies
This policy applies to:
- denvergold.org
- americas.miningforum.com, europe.miningforum.com and australia.miningforum.com
- the Mining Forum apps, including EMS and the member, partner, attendee and director pages at miningforum.com addresses, and the attendee app at miningforum.app
Mining Forum Live at miningforum.live is published on Substack, which sets its own cookies under Substack's privacy policy.
2Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. Websites also use similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, to remember information from one page or visit to the next. In this policy, “cookies” includes those technologies.
3Our approach
We use cookies only where they are strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for, such as signing in, registering for a Mining Forum or paying an invoice, or to remember a choice you have made on a page. We use no advertising or analytics cookies, and no cookies that follow you across other websites. We count visits without cookies, as section 6 describes.
For that reason our sites and apps do not show a cookie banner. If we propose to use any cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent before setting it and will update this policy first.
4The public websites
denvergold.org and the Mining Forum sites set no cookies. When you use the features below, they keep your choice in your browser's local storage. It stays in your browser and is not sent to us.
| Name | Used on | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| dgg-currency | Metal prices pages | Remembers the currency you chose for prices and charts | Until you clear it |
| ag-events | Agenda pages | Remembers whether you left the list of the day's events open or closed | Until you clear it |
| media-chrome-pref-muted, media-chrome-pref-volume, media-chrome-pref-subtitles-lang | Pages with video | Remember the sound and subtitle settings you chose in the video player | Until you clear them |
5The Mining Forum apps
When you sign in, register or pay in the Mining Forum apps, they set the cookies below. All of them are strictly necessary: without them you cannot sign in, register or pay.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| denver-gold-group-session | Denver Gold Group | Keeps you signed in to EMS and its member, partner, attendee and director pages, and carries your progress from one page to the next | 24 hours, or until you sign out |
| mfapp_session | Denver Gold Group | Keeps you signed in to the attendee app at miningforum.app, and carries your progress from one page to the next | 24 hours, or until you sign out |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Denver Gold Group | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | 24 hours |
| remember_web_ followed by a code | Denver Gold Group | Keeps you signed in between visits, only if you tick “Stay logged in” | Up to 400 days, or until you sign out |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare, our network security provider | Tells people apart from automated traffic, to protect the apps from attack | 30 minutes |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare, only when it shows a security check | Records that you passed the check, so you are not asked again | As long as the check stays valid |
| _cfuvid | Cloudflare | Applies rate limits fairly to visitors who share an internet address | Until you close your browser |
| __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe, our card payment provider, on the payment pages only: registration checkout, walk-in registration, company invoices and delegate registration | Prevent fraud when you pay by card | One year, and 30 minutes |
Cloudflare and Stripe describe these cookies in the Cloudflare cookie policy and the Stripe cookie policy.
The tools our staff and production crews use in the apps keep a few working settings in local storage on the device used, such as which page sections are folded.
6Video, maps and visit counts from other providers
Video. Our videos are delivered by Mux, and our video players are set to use no cookies. When you play a video, the player reports playback information to Mux, such as how long the video took to start and whether it paused to buffer, without setting cookies.
Maps. The maps on our contact and venue pages come from Google and load only when you choose to show them. Once a map has loaded, Google may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy.
Visit counts. We count visits to our websites and apps with Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. For each page you view, Plausible records the page's address (without its query string, apart from campaign tags), the site that referred you, your browser, operating system and type of device, your approximate location, and how far you scrolled and how long you stayed. It also records when you follow a link to another site, download a file or submit a form, but not what you entered. It recognizes repeat visits only within a single day, through a code built from your internet address and browser with a value it deletes every 24 hours, and it never stores your internet address. In the Mining Forum apps, links that contain personal codes are shortened before anything is sent. Plausible is hosted in the European Union and explains its practices in Plausible's data policy.
7Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies, and clear local storage, in your browser's settings. If you block the cookies the Mining Forum apps use, you will not be able to sign in, register or pay. Clearing local storage resets the choices described in section 4.
8Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
