Company Profile
St Barbara Limited is an Australian based, ASX listed company (ASX: SBM) with gold mining operations on Simberi Island, Papua New Guinea and gold projects in Nova Scotia, Canada. Production in FY25 from Simberi was 51,168 ounces of gold doré at All-in Sustaining Costs of US$2,968 per ounce. The Simberi operation is currently processing remnant oxide ore to avoid disruptive closure and associated social impacts and costs of restarting prior to the commencement of the Simberi Sulphide Expansion Project.

In April 2025, St Barbara announced Pre-Feasibility Study results for the Simberi Sulphide Expansion Project outlining the mining of multiple open pits to exploit the 0.7Moz oxide and 1.9Moz sulphide Ore Reserves and produce a saleable gold-silver concentrate. Average annual gold production increases to over 220,000 ounces per annum from FY28, with All-in Sustaining Costs between US$1,200 and US$1,300 per ounce. Expansion growth capital is estimated at US$235 million across FY26 to FY28. The Feasibility Study is underway, with completion expected in October 2025 before the final investment decision in late calendar 2025 or early 2026. First gold production from the sulphide ore is targeted for late calendar 2027.

In Nova Scotia, the Touquoy open pit mine has moved into closure and care and maintenance, with rehabilitation well underway. The Company has three additional advanced stage gold projects (15-Mile, Beaver Dam and Cochrane Hill) containing a total of 1.4Moz in Ore Reserves. In May 2025, the study results of the 15-Mile Processing Hub confirmed the optimal development is a 3 Mtpa processing plant relocated 35km from Touquoy to 15-Mile, with additional mill feed transported by road from the Beaver Dam and Cochrane Hill deposits. Average gold production of over 100,000 ounces per annum from FY29, at All-in Sustaining Costs of US$1,200 per ounce and an 11 year mine life. A Pre-Feasibility Study is underway and anticipated to be completed in the March quarter of 2026.
